| ACTING LOCALLY: I'm not
a farmer but I routinely buy food. This is my Mississippi
and I own my part in creating this problem. I have
resolved to set up my routine food purchases to be environmentally
benign and benevolent to everyone impacted. To keep
accountable, I pledge to keep track of my spending, towards
the goal of improving my "score". |
| PARAMETERS FOR MEASURING POSITIVE
CHANGE:I learned about
the impacts of farming. I designate products of factory
farming, genetically engineered foods, foods with artificial
ingredients, foods grown with chemical fertilizers and pesticides
and herbicides as FALSEFOOD. I aim to replace these with
Food acquired through organic methods, by CSA, by home gardening
and local producers that I may verify for myself are using
good practices. I keep good records easily by using my checking
account for all my food purchases, and balancing my checkbook
using my Quicken program. I can report positive change
by the fact that my spending on foods that were chemically
or factory farmed dropped to only ?& of what it was
before I made the Pledge to keep track and set a positive
course. |
