If there were a single string that could unravel the whole enchilada of problems, world round, it would be this: the category of impulse to which people respond by giving action.

    There are all kinds of data-streams (and associated impulses) available, at any time. Whatever you pay attention to the most, cuts a groove. It becomes a whole cavalcade of persistent stimuli and reaction.  When a whole group of people participate in the same stream, it becomes a mainstream; in other words, a whole culture. 

    Act upon anxiety, and manifest the thing that you fear.  Or, you can act upon love, manifest heaven on Earth.  You pick. 

    Religion reaches its potential when it gives you the tools to cultivate innocence in your soul. The soul is the instrument of that choice. The meaning of sabbatical is to give yourself time to reboot, center yourself correctly again.  Shaking off all the habitual shackles, the creative impulse will emerge that is integral to the body of Christ. 

    In contrast, when I act upon anxiety, or resignation to coercion, with the thoughts and solutions figured out by the frightened mind, I create the situation reflecting back . . . the very thing I am trying to avoid. 

    The hell that we need to be worried about being sent to is the trajectory of global warming 6 degrees. This delivers an avenue of hope of repair.  The same community formation that can prevent that terrible manifestation gives space to each person to become whole in their soul.  In sanctuary the human being can blossom. 

    Full-featured religion retires the impulse of anxiety as a valid leader of action, and replaces it with empathy, curiosity and play. The playful mind is much smarter. The open heart connects to the central-intelligence agency inside the Global Heart.

    Think of what kind of society we would have if we did things the easy way. 

    Voila.  The impulse worth following is play.
